COVID Recovery - Pediatric

Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (formerly Saint Barnabas Medical Center) and Children’s Hospital of Texas at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, RWJBarnabas Health facilities, offer a Pediatric Post-COVID CARE (Comprehensive Assessment, Recovery and Evaluation) Program that works in collaboration with your pediatrician. The goal of this program is to ensure children who had COVID-19 and/or multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) as a result of COVID-19 receive the necessary physician follow-up.

COVID-19 Recovery in Children

While we continue to learn about COVID-19 and its impact on children, we do know that children who had MIS-C require physician follow-up in regular intervals once they have been discharged from the hospital. If you have not already, it is very important to schedule a follow-up appointment for your child as soon as possible.

The Pediatric Post-COVID CARE Program is coordinated by Uzma N. Hasan, MD, Division Chief, Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center. In collaboration with your pediatrician, she will determine if there is a need for specialty services.

The program’s patient navigator will facilitate appointment scheduling with the necessary specialists to address your child’s individual needs. For this program, we have gathered a broad range of experts delivering a variety of services designed to meet the changing and varied needs of children recovering from COVID-19 and related MIS-C.
